TONY J. KOCOLAS
PRODUCER AND CO-WRITER

TONY J. KOCOLAS is a first generation Greek-American, whose parents instilled a love and appreciation of Greece. Kocolas learned to speak Greek before he learned English, though it created some difficulties in the earliest years of school. This knowledge of Greek proved invaluable when he passed a Harvard-prepared examination as part of the foreign language requirement for earning an advanced degree in History.

Kocolas is an independent business owner but has continued to teach History on the college and university level for over 30 years. The reviews of his teaching have consistently been exemplary.

Professor Kocolas has written books and articles in the fields of history and political thought. He wrote The Republicans: The Modern Party of FDR and co-authored Streams in a Thirsty Land.

Kocolas has written several articles for magazines and newspapers, including Greek-American publications. The Greek-American publications include articles for Greek-American Monthly Review, as well as articles for regional Greek-American publications including KPHTH magazine for the Pan Cretan Association of America.

A recent article Professor Kocolas wrote for KPHTH magazine titled, “Why the Name Macedonia Matters,” received widespread accolades from Greek-Americans throughout the United States.

In addition to educating students about Ancient Greece in the classroom, he has lectured about the Ancient Hellenes in community forums. The national Elderhostels organization has frequently been a beneficiary of Kocolas’ lectures about the Greeks.

Additionally, Kocolas has been interviewed on both television and radio about Greek-related issues.

Tony Kocolas’ diverse interests drew him to video productions. In the early 1990s he participated in producing commercials with Company Three Productions. During the last three years he has worked with Cohlan Productions in most aspects of video production—including producing two historical documentaries.
